Stockpile capacities need tuning

Postby shubla » Fri Mar 29, 2019 2:50 pm

At least with farming, it seems that sizes of stockpiles are just pulled out of ass.
I can fit 60 turnips in one stockpile, but only 35 onions?
Why? Onions seem to be even smaller than turnipses do.
35 flowers?
60 Beetroots?
30 pumpkins?
These values are just stupid.
They need all to be changed to be more uniform. Should be same for onions, turnips and beetroots at least (increase to 60, where beetroots are). Maybe increased for flowers to around 60 as well?

TBH I would like the removal of stockpiles in general and replaced with more storage options, you want to stockpile farm goods use a barrel or craft some sacks to put those onions in.
It rubs the lotion on its skin and does as its told. it does this whenever its told or else it gets the hose again. Now it puts the lotion in the basket. PUT THE FUCKING LOTION IN THE BASKET!

I think the whole idea of stockpiles is that you can just right click item to get a pile of that item. Without building anything.

But I agree that there are issues with stockpiles:
It rather tedious to make models for all the stockpiles.
Lots of work to maintain them.
For example, currently their capacities are just all over the place and hitbox/bounding box sizes are quite arbitrary and stupid.
They could indeed be replaced with stuff like barrels, sacks and/or bins, which would be more easy to make for many item types. Would have same size etc.

One quite wild suggestion for stockpile capacities: capacities should be same for all stockpiles of same item size.

Something must be done to them.

I don't think the stack on the ground stockpile should be replaced. Though I do feel that items placed in them should decay unless they are put into a proper storage container such as a barrel, bin or sack. I would also like to see a new building to house farming produce just like the granary stores our grains this structure would store everything that's farmed that isn't grain.

as far as stockpile sizes go I agree they should be standardized but I don't agree they should all contain the same amount across the board. there should be tile wise small medium and large stockpiles things like onions, carrots, ect would be e small, beets turnips medium. and pumpkins would be large.

Raw glass still needs a stockpile and to be honest it should just be treated as a stone and stockpiled as such.

Stockpiles for everything. Infinite capacity.

That would be nice. I’ve always wanted to be able to stockpile the strange crystals too the capability of that for seashells has made me keep a lot more of them than I used to.

I have a real point that needs some thoughts from devs, and jorb just comes to my thread to spam some meme-replies!!! Devs are the worst!!!!
