Communal Village

Postby alecciarosewater » Sat Mar 30, 2019 9:45 am

Right now the game starts people in a random spot and everyone isolates themselves in their private residences with little chance of them running into each other on accident much less stopping to talk to each other. If only there was some kind of meeting point for players, some landmark that everybody knows about. A proper settlement that says "hey over here" even if it is just a tent, a message board, and a dressing table

I imagine griefing and smashed structures could be a concern, but the village doesn't have to work the same way as private houses plus this feels like the sort of fanbase that would obsessively replace furniture anyway

So I am expected to use out-of-game toolsto meet people? What's the point of there being a game then
Besides it would help with PvP if rivals ran into each other more often because they both wanted to visit a landmark location at the same time

As a new arrival all I see is private settlements. A tent would stand out as being something completely different while still looking like a building to enter

Players have the power to, and have in the past, created such things. With visitor gates and the like, it's well within feasibility. The hedge hug created community fair was more or less the world center for economy and social events for W10.

In the past they've tried NPC towns (Salem) and spawning people in a smallish area creating population density (forget which world, but it was the one that was stupidly massive for the population). Neither felt "right" for the game's sandbox nature, and there was a lot of griefing that happened.

I was incorporating the spawn density thing. That wasn't nearly as bad as what happened in Salem. Salem was quite honestly painful to watch unfold in terms of griefing.
