I don't mind the survival cap. But I also hermit so it doesn't affect me too much.

Making the cap (2*surv) or similar would ease the pain while still discouraging alt spam.

Not only do I like how it currently works but i am also glad it got hardcapped instead of softcapped. It flattens the very early game progression curve in a game with massive longevity. I couldn't stand how it used to work that by week 2 of a new world people had top q bones for saws etc. Not only was that counter-curve but it also skewed intended balance.

If you want to help someone kill stuff, you better invest in some survival, else stick to sewing/farming/cooking or whatever else if you're specialising. 'Tis exactly how it should be.

Sarge that's dumb and you should feel bad for discouraging players to work together, the high q animal spots are already marked and surveyed by high survival players and everything other than a troll can be killed solo, even a chasm conch.

I'm not discouraging players from working together, I'm discouraging the seamstress from being a hunter with the hunters. As important as I think that is, it is tertiary to preserving a healthy longevity curve and balance.

What about the miner that needs hunter level fighting stats just to survive slime and boreworm encounters but also has to raise masonry instead of surv. Preventing X from doing Y would encourage more alt use instead would it not? Or if not alts then finding more creative ways to work around the system.

Pretty sure the point was so that players can't do this on day one (well, two, three... first week) and get a massive jump on their economy over what their skills should allow.

Yes, it sucks that a guy with 1 survival can't help hunt now because they dumped all their points into UA. There is a better middle ground, sure. Maybe the suvival cap can slowly turn to a softcap, even going away completely, after the world hits a time age? But then I don't think jorb or loftar will either one be happy with that idea, either.

I like having reasons to up skills and stats.
If your friends can't wear survival set to help you then they are alts.

That sounds like a problem with mining and issues related, not survival.
