an item on the ground? if so that's amazing

There is a simple example: i have 2 fields of wheat each 250 tiles in size. And when i finish reaping this wheat i have 500 hay pieces lying on the ground. And how many slots i have in my inventory? 24. i could run to the side and pile hay there 20 times or make 20 small piles and then merge these in 2 using a wheelbarrow but i'd prefer to shift+click once and end up with wheelbarrow full of hay.
