Gem hunter - make it more fun

Postby Leny » Tue May 07, 2019 4:05 pm

Gem hunter sounds way more exciting than what it really is. It feels more like stone excavator especially if I'm mining a single gem node. If making it more fun is an option then one thing that I thought of would be adding the prospecting/directional circle when a gem is mined out and it would be pointing in the general direction of the next closest gem.

Sorry if this was already suggested.

Sounds like a lot of work for small gains to the overall game.
The exciting part about gem hunter is all the extra gems you get.

You probably know more about how the system is implemented than I do. But to me it felt like all the tools are right there and the implementation shouldn't be costly.

This would make it too easy to find gems on higher levels where they are more sparse.
When you go deeper it gets a lot easier to find gems.
I would say the current balance is fine it just hurts people who are unable to go deeper for some reason. That's why I have heard similar suggestions about gems.
For this reason I think putting dev time into an already fairly balanced system is too much work.

I'm going to use this opportunity to reintroduce my pendulum suggestion. A pendulum is made using a gemstone and a piece of string. The size of the gemstone, in combination with the quality of the pendulum, determines the range and accuracy of the pendulum, while the gemstone used determines the type of gemstone it can douse. It also functions as a curiosity and must be made on a gem-cutter's wheel. If used on the surface it will douse the 1st level of the underground for gem nodes.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.

Being used up as rustroot, I hope?
