for when 40 or so barrels are not enough, you could make a tanker ship It would be like a giant oversized floating cistern but maybe with 5 or 10 times the capacity for holding liquids. It would be made using a lot more metal and thus slower than knarr. Imagine a ship going around selling clean water to villages that don't have good access. Ideally it could have multiple slots for liquids so it could carry maybe 4 types or so, lets say about a cisterns worth of each and could if desired use more than one slot for the same liquid adding up to 5 or ten cisterns worth. could also be used for bulk transport of drinks such as wine and beer which are now becoming a thing.

Yea this ideas not going to fly. People seem to hate the idea of even a special cart capable of carrying 1000 liters, let alone a unique boat for doing it. Enjoy making hundreds of barrels.
