Lobotomy

Lobotomy should be an available treatment for some wounds such as Asphyxiation.
You could get these wounds healed, with the cost of permanent learning ability debuff.

Lobotomy would be fun, but the penalty is too strong. Games are more fun when they pretend that old barbaric medicine actually worked just fine.

Several posts moved to Hel. If you feel a need to reply, at least tell the poster why they're wrong. don't spam or otherwise continue to troll a thread.

How would lobotomy work against asphyxiation?

Lobotomy was used to treat chronic pain until doctors realized it didn't people didn't stop feeling pain, they stopped expressing that they feel pain. Sounds silly but lobotomy was initially believed to some miracle cure. I recall some documentary where they interviewed person whose stepmother took him to be lobotomized when he was a kid in the 1950s because he was misbehaving. Fortunately he mostly recovered since young brains can heal pretty good.

Lobotomy was not used for chronic pain, but for mental disorders. It was introduced in the early 20th Century. Trepanning however is a procedure that was used in olden times for headaches and maybe for many other things:
