Possible sausages buff

Postby Fostik » Thu Aug 01, 2019 4:47 pm

As we know most sausages are waste.

To buff it - let us use roasted meat for it.
This will allow us to use spices twice: on roasted meat, and sausage, and get more stats

With the current system, most food is a waste. When's the last time you saw someone eat crêpes or lingon loaf?

That's a big "no." I agree they need a buff, but that's not it.

But as Ants says... most food is of little value with only a handful of good items, either focusing on energy gain or FEPs, or balancing the two. No point in asking for buffs like this when the whole system needs to be reworked and rebalanced.

Maybe to roast sausages after making? Because:
1. I struggle to imagine a sausage made from roasted meat. Do they exist?
2. It's strange for me that current sausages in the game do not use any heat treatment(?). Nor drying, nor salt. Do hearthlings eat fresh, raw meat in a raw casing that comes out of a meat grinder?

I can imagine some kinds to be roasted on a Gridiron, some kinds to be dried. Some may be cured, though not sure how exactly: with a salt, on a Herbalist Table? I also don't know if any kinds of sausages were cooked by boiling in that age... but it's at least a possibility.

Dont want to derail the thread but what are these good food?

What about different types of sausage like the blood sausage that was mentioned already. Is offal already a satiation taken by one of the good foods?

i'd prefer something along this line, something like the cheese system, you could boil them, dry them, grill them, smoke them for different effects on different sausages.

also spice should be an input on all sausage and so should animal fat

I'm not really the one to answer, but there's a huge lack of info wherever I try to look, so I'll share what I know.

For high FEP/hunger foods, the best I've seen is shepherds pie with either a double dose of chives or laurel leaves. Chives give a large flat bonus of agi + per while laurel leaves seem to boost the con/int/dex/will/cha alredy present on your pie variant. The community fair webpage showcases some of these pie recipes (https://certainly-not-a-cat.github.io/fair_report/). I also make autumn steaks with laurel leaves. Specifically, grey seal or pork bollocks with lettuce. Grey seal with bay boletes is especially potent in giving dex. Anything with troll mushrooms give a lot of psy. These combos lack int, cha, and will, so I supplement these foods with jorbonzola, sunlit stilton, and wonderful wilderness wurst. If I ever get a small remainder in my FEP bar, I eat chived kebabs. Perched perch, mussel frites, bairthday cake, tuber mash, and laurel leaf pumpkin stew also fit in here sometimes. If you hadn't noticed, a lot of the strong recipes have chives and laurel leaves as optional additives.

If someone more experienced has better info to share that would be great. Shepherds pies especially seem really strong and a forum search turns up nothing on them. The cookbook (https://certainly-not-a-cat.github.io/cookbook/) doesn't have the spiced shepherds pie recipes either.

Some sort of curing system for them could be cool. Would be reasonable if you had to smoke them or whatever.

Also shouldn't be the case that most foods are a waste.
