Ability to "Examine" certain tiems to get discovery of them

Frying Pan and Primitive Casting Rod need this at least, probably couple items more. You can acquire one, either by trade or scavenging) and not use it all because all Frying Pan recipes require discovery of it and Primitive Casting Rod is required to craft lures.

Signed. There's no reason for discoveries to be as annoying as they sometimes are. imo their only reasons to be in the game are to not overwhelm new players with the cluster-fuck of crafting recipes and early LP.

Good idea, I hate it when you lack discovery for that one thing and then you have to craft every single item in the game to find out what that thing is.

Get someone to write a parchment with the description on it. Put it in a library. There you go, easy discovery for everyone.

That's not a reason for this to not be implemented.

The discovery system is really kind of cool when new, super frustrating for when you've been around for a while. Especially with alts. It would be amazing if we could make a compedium of some sort that included a ton of recipies we could lend to our alt #23.

Library, meet books... if only we had an easy way to do this thing....

+1, I think at least tools should have an examine option. I like having recipes locked behind tools if you need those tools, but often (especially late game) noobs will find tools they would otherwise not have access to in ruined settlements

I could agree that some items could use a mechanic like that.
