Mushroom planting

Mushrooms should be "planted" into myrkwood logs and should ask for hay and a mushroom in them, wich over time are transformed into new mushrooms, wich ql depends on hay, log and "planted" mushroom. Better growth if the mushrooms are kept in caves, mounds and cellars.

+1

That's a novel idea and closer to how they actually are grown than putting it in a flower pot- You could also replace straw with "Mulch" as it's closer to the pasteurized fertilizer/manure used in the process too. Would be a good way to justify growing things like puffballs and indigo caps too.
And instead of it being prohibitive in terms of crafting- It's balanced in terms of your wood/farm quality and you upgrade slowwwly by waiting for mirklogs. I kinda like that as a twist.

Im always +1 to rework shrooms planting mechanic - they should not grow in pots, and you should collect spores, seed them to grains, and then when grains will be infected by micelium - plant them in tree logs or special substrate.

In the other hand we have foraging, and devs dont want to debuff via shroom farming in home.

Yeah which essentially means you need to have forage bots to get them in decent quantities or trade with nabs but who wants to rely on that so it becomes botting instead.

+1 for real game mechanics that replace botting, good idea.

Mushrooms should have to be crafted with a parchment to extract spore prints first maybe, then they can be dried on herbalist table and the papers can be placed inside a mirk log inventory with some mulch overtop. I'd make it so the mirk hardcaps the mushroom q tho so it doesn't get out of hand and gives people a reason to actually let logs decay off claims and make more high q mirks

Innoculating logs is a good idea, and fairly realistic, it's one method used in real life. You can check for pictures I posted last time this idea came up.

It could be very cool, but it's hard to say if fungiculture was realistically part of the same time period, not that it should really matter. It could be very cool to both inoculate the logs ourselves but also just leave mirks in different biomes and have different sorts of mushrooms grow naturally. Perhaps a mirk left in a cave, swamp, forest, mountain, etc. should all eventually grow a different kind of mushroom. Could be a fun new type of farm.

I'm fairly sure that mushroom farming was a tech even in roman times, still i know that in 1200 people used to farm mushrooms regularly by stacking some kind of logs and stumps from certain trees.
