I wanted to say that some crucial resources for newcomers seem to be not just scarce, but nonexistent when the territory is fully covered with snow, if I'm right in my observations that forageables, including taproot and nettle, never spawn on snow at all. This is somewhat alleviated by the short duration of winter, yes... but still leaves the possibility for some unlucky newcomers to be repelled by the fact that they are unable to make anything for days.
If I'm not mistaken, even animals tend not to give birth in the time of year when it's hard to find anything edible for them.
Winter is, indeed, absurdly difficult. I had the misfortune of starting up again right as winter began; and I have no idea how i'm supposed to cope or even do anything until spring/summer.
Had I not had friends to start with, I'm not sure i'd even be able to get to where I currently am- and I managed to start a day or two before fall.
Seeds and fruits are gone: This means a HUGE portion of discovery LP is locked until summer (Please: Make winter not delete them, and make them return in spring, not summer). Taproots and nettles are very rare in winter, especially as more of the map becomes sweeping waves of white: Without these, you can't even start the game- I didn't get a farm up, so most of my string comes from scavenging dead villages. I can't imagine how a brand new player will be able to construct basic things such as clothing or many buildings without these sources.
Digging is absolute hell; I've completely given up on leveling my place, as I can't possibly level all of it in one day (big projects), and every time I return after sleep or a break, the entire ground is coated in white, meaning that I have to tile-by-tile dig everything up.
I'm barely capable of feeding myself; the only reason I can is because of fishing and because i'm barely combat capable- a new player can't even grab string, meaning fishing would be hard for them to start (thank god they dont need to discover it). I had to completely halt certain attributes; I can't forage for a lot of food each day, meaning I can't raise the attributes. I've never missed blueberry pies so much in my life.
Not to mention that many forageable curios are missing now- boletes and whatnot are rare, and I can't get a stable supply of decent curios anymore- especially as I can't craft any at this stage of progression.
Winter is hell. Please fix. The only reason i'm even playing right now is because my subscription is still ticking down, even though I honestly can't do a single thing beyond mining currently (I can't even progress my damned credos, and won't until summer!!! Can the quest system at least become seasonal too, so that impossible quests aren't generated?)
