Hard distance limit for new player's "greet" quests

Postby Dakkan » Sat Sep 07, 2019 6:50 pm

New character on a new account, needed exp so I figured I do some suffering via quests. The first quest from the tree, a greet quest, across the world on a different continent. Didn't know that until I trekked across the continent. This would not be a good first impression for someone just experiencing the game. Really should have a hard cap for some of this rng when it's only going to give new player's a very negative experience.

Wait until they're hooked, then fuck em, that's always been the style!

I have a strong dislike for seemingly easy normal quest that turn out to be across the entire continent & and you reach the ocean and, oh it turns out that giver is even farther. Yay. I know distant indicators are not going to get put in, but man itd be nice to have even a vague suggestion of distance.

I agree to an extent; While I do hate continent-long runs being so common, I also do have a fondness for them still happening, as i've seen lots of nice things and it gives me an excuse to make a long journey and rack up some EXP

I just think there needs to be some mediation is all; different 'levels' of quests, where the easy ones are relatively local and are easy, and harder ones less localized, have more things you need to do, and generally more difficult

From what it seems the only difference in 'difficulty' for quests is just the amount of things they want you to do
