Allow making gates unkeyable

Postby Tamalak » Wed Sep 25, 2019 3:44 pm

I just realized that if I have a visitor's gate, there's no need to lock it at all - people who have permissions for the claim can open and close it at will from both sides, and those who don't will have to commit a crime just to open it, and then (I think) can't get in.

The only reason to key it is therefore to prevent anyone *else* from keying it.. which would be a crime, but would really mess us up since then they can effectively close the gate forever on us.

Allow the option to make a gate unkeyable at all.

My remark is not about this thing in particular just my opinion is that the Devs don't need to guard you from everything that could possibly go wrong

What is the point of a visitor gate that anyone can open or close?

To apply the visitor debuff.
I still think you should really keep the closed and locked though, just to make potential visitor bypasses hard to use on you.

I think a better solution would be asking for a new non-masterkey that can open the gate in both directions, but not change the locks. You can walk around with that key, and even if you lose it in some way it wont matter all that much compared to someone getting their hands on your masterkey.
