new blacksmith credo - Metal Alloys

Postby AriZona » Thu Oct 31, 2019 11:46 pm

It could be very entertaining to add credo "Metal Alloys". Just a concept:

# level 1 - Ability to find 3-4 new ores. Those ores could be rare to very rare; mine-level dependent.
# Levels 2-3 - To open few new metals that could be obtained only in pebbles (like gold now) after smelting from those new rare ores
# Level 4 - Forging benefits
# Level 5 - The ability to make alloys by mixing different metals on the basis of steel. new metals could serve as crucial additive pretty much like spices now in food. Some alloys could possess higher strength, for example leading to better weapons.

A CATCH: the exact mixing formula is unknown and has to be learned by trial and error. Different World could have few secret recipes that lead to superior metal abilities, while most other recipes would not change it or even might even degrade it.

adding more mandatory-for-competition-credos is not a fun idea until that system is reviewed. i'm already miserable enough needing to do blacksmith and cave hermit every world.

Vigilance is absolutely right about how extra credos that give such an advantage are a bit much. As a side note the ability to find new ores can’t really depend on a credo if all the ores are in the world as of day 1

You are correct however the thread starter is merely a victim of the rise of credos....

Once people have accepted shit works like this they come up with their own overpowered stuff...

And then the next point becomes; who are you to say it's overpowered when we got this and this and this...

Which is a fair point so then we could say okay make 23 more credos for specific very strong shit which seems to fit "thematically" with the other overpowerer credos.

But I think as a community it would be nice to not lead the developers astray because their current path is not sustainable and they could spend energy on so many other things.

Perhaps the entire suggestion forum should be closed for new content. So only balance or integrity changes.

But ya whatever not sure if it matters, just a thought....

Please don't stigmatize others based on you sole personal believes, just accept that other people like having credos and that is it. Also, don't try limit others if you don't like doing something instead evolving yourself; just pursue your ways of game play and don't do whatever credo you don't like.

Did you seriously just post in idea in a subforum called critique and ideas then get upset when people criticized your idea?
New/bad credos affect him infinitely more than you, and you're sitting here telling him "don't try limit others if you don't like doing something instead evolving yourself"? Genuinely the height of self centeredness

P.S: credos suck

That was exactly my point: dont like it - dont do it. Nobody forces you doing it... Free will to choose. Dont need to be upset about it.

Good job you have just proven yourself to be completely clueless.

If you try to be somewhat competitive in this game, credos become mandatory because others do it, if you don't then you already simply lost.

Thus ideas like this create even more balance/integrity issues. But you don't share that perspective because you wrote this idea right after gilding your first sprucecap I assume.

hate to say it, but they're right. If you wish to be a part of the competitive end of the game, you have to have someone that can keep up with the curve if not the one setting the curve. That means any proposed changes that increases the power curve are a "must complete." The way jorb originally sold credos were an optional thing to make life better in little ways. Instead, we got power creep and "must haves" for things like PvP.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
