Higher resolution for sketches

Postby shubla » Wed Feb 12, 2020 3:18 am

512x512 is not enough, we should have larger resolutions for paintings, sails etc. Something like 4096x4096 or even 8192x8192.

It's easy fix so just do it!

I think this is a bit more of an ask than an increase in sketch colors. Safer to force the user to upload at 512x512 than to risk uploading at a higher level and then losing resolution from compressing the texture into what is an even smaller space once displayed on the screen.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Often the 512x512 already gets scaled down.
But also often it doesn't ( like knarr sails). Which is why we need more resolution.
