Should C&I be archived

Should C&I be archived

Postby ricky » Fri Mar 06, 2020 10:49 am

and restarted for the new world?

There's a lot going on in here, perhaps it's time to restart? Obvs there's some stuff in here that posters won't want archived/hidden, so maybe if they want their suggestion moved into the new C&I they could pm a mod.

+ would be easier to manage/not as daunting
+ would hide all the bad ideas like this one

- would hide a few good ideas
- pita for the mod to move requested threads

Everyone would happily repost the ideas that have been rehashed a million times over once again.

I think it's time to reevaluate the merits of hard resetting the c&i

Someone told how some other indie game has policy where posting a "solution" is discouraged or even forbidden, you have to post about the root problem.

Anyone could use a request to bring a thread back no matter who originally posted it if they have useful comments or just want to make a reminder that it could be a decent idea to add. Not sure what to think of the overall idea one way or the other, but it could be handled this way.

It doesn't matter at this point. Devs are barely looking at this subforum anymore. If there wasn't a backlog of literally thousands of unread topics, there would be at least a chance that this could change, so resetting C&I should be a no-brainer.
If people actually care about specific ideas, they will be suggested again.

Let's say it's archived. What to do with posts that are clearly from the past and jorbtar have turned down? Any way to argue for it without waiting for a moderator to pull the conversation back into the rest of the forum? Most users don't bother searching before posting an idea, but for those that do search up an idea they thought up and wants to discuss it, they now have to wait on a moderator to move it to bring it back up as something that should be discussed.

What if it was left "as is?" Yes, many will still continue to "not search" the archives and old posts. Old posts will still be handing back there on page 245 being ignored by the devs and everyone else. Are they hurting anything, though?

Mashadar wrote:Devs are barely looking at this subforum anymore.

To be fair, I think they're spending all the free time they have right now to get a patch a week out. We should be glad they're doing that rather than what a lot of other devs do when their lives change: calling it "done" and never coming back.
