Credo block: Abandoning first quest

Postby Sevenless » Tue Mar 10, 2020 8:08 pm

Some credo quests are too hard to complete for a given player's progress/location/etc, which is why we can abandon them and undo some progress. But the first credo being abandoned nukes the thousands of LP dumped in, which seems disproportionately punishing to simply losing progress if you're further in.

Rather than undoing the credo being taken, abandoning should cause a cooldown lockout to getting the next quest. Some amount of time that's not trivial to make it fair. Late game, leaving the option to abandon the credo entirely and retake it leaves the option to players with excess LP to skip the waiting time (and of course still provide a mechanic to abandon a credo).

Figured it needed its own thread.

I think abandoning it should still be available in case you decide that "no, I really don't want to do this one at this time." Outright abandoning the credo should have never been the only valid option, though.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
