Raiding/Theft is completely broken

Postby bigyikes » Tue Mar 24, 2020 5:01 pm

Long story short we broke into the claim of some degenerates who were stealing shit and bashing claims day 1. However with 2 ~300 hp players with theft we were able to easily steal everything of value from their village. And that is the problem. Taking an ore stockpile? You take 80 damage aka 1 per item, honestly this seems fairly balanced to me. However with cupboards and other containers it is a completely different story. Looking inside costs 1 hp but picking it up also costs 1 hp. So instead of looking for anything valuable and only taking valuable shit to conserve hp we just stole absolutely every cupboard and container in the village. Why is this even a thing?

Proposal: you take hp damage for every item in the picked up container to discourage walking away with everything that isnt nailed down.

I agree.

It feels dumb to have absolutely everything you've ever done or owned entirely bulldozed because you left your gate open, and it feels equally dumb to spend the time to get inside a raider base and instead of sneaking around like a master assassin and stealing everything of great value and perhaps leaving a note saying "you messed with the wrong guy" you just rofl stomp everything like a five year old having a tantrum.

+1
Total misplay.

Didn't you know that devs get bribes from the bandits in exchange for making killing and stealing from noobs easy?
I agree that crime is way WAY too easy now, no consequences whatsoever.
Stealing containers should take as many hp as it contains items.

Small fix there for a better idea. Probably not 1:1 ratio, but any increase would be better.

I'm not a raider type, so forgive my noobishness here, but can't you use a wheelbarrow, or that not possible to steal with? I know you can load carts, etc and walk away with them.

You kidding right? We have no palibashers, no shooting over walls, hermits are protected from being killed, we have slave keys and visitor gates that you can keep open 24/7, thieving now deals damage and raiding anyone with a palisade is nearly impossible atm- and you are still complaining? Criminal acts are nearly impossible except griefing sprucecaps and stealing their q7 rabbit hides.

The thief/vandal system is still very much all or nothing though, which has been complained about in the past. It's part of why sieging has to be so incredibly difficult, being broken into ends your base entirely.

Not entirely true. Claim or no claim, a palisade that isn't at full soak is vulnerable, and palisades on unclaimed land (or inactive claim) are always vulnerable. By vulnerable, I mean don't need a siege engine to destroy.
