I've mentioned this before but once again i'm bringing it up because I strongly feel the dev's answer in the past is wrong for this game.
My go-to example for this is always mystic because its the most affected, but right now we're also seeing it with Forager getting seasonal based quests that are impossible to complete right now.
I'm starting to think the dev's simply don't play the game enough to actually understand how bad this is, and I strongly feel this is one of the core things that drives players away from the game once the world gets established.
Lets take Mystic as the core golden example. You get a quest, "get X event." This event has a 7 day cooldown, and you got it the day before. you now have no choice but to wait 7 days to get this completed. Now, the dev's usual response is "mystic should be difficult" Please understand that enforced time gated difficulties are a false difficulty. The argument of "you can abandon a quest you don't want to do" is also just another example of exactly why this is completely bad design. If you are abandoning a lot of quests in a credo to complete it then it is evidently clear that the quests are badly designed. With the exception of you simply haven't hit the required state of actual progression yet, for instance trying to do blacksmith if you have next to no metal discovered and maybe alevel 1 minehole and thats it, then sure, that's perfectly reasonable. But, your entire playerbase has complained for over 3 years about how well hated these lengthy time gates are and now you are seeing it again with everybody struggling just to finish forager because of the awful time gates season based quests.
Credos are good for this game, the rewards for progressing through them make it worth it, though the number of quests also needs some STRONG reconsideration as i mentioned in another thread that appears to have been buried. Though, people are sick of time gates being as bad as they are, you will see larger drops in players by refusing to acknowledge something your entire playerbase has complained about for 3 years in a row.
Please don't meme this with "credos bad" because they are not, its a select number of the quests "designed" around credos that are catastrophically terrible for the game and its players quality of life and overall enjoyment of the game.
