Sharp Trees!

Postby Zentetsuken » Thu Apr 09, 2020 4:05 pm

walking around trees is dangerous! twigs and branches are sharp!
we sew many trinkets and gilding on to our fragile linens!
bumping in to a tree should rip gildings off of our clothing and destroy our fragile wearables!

Maybe you run into a lot of trees in real life (that would explain this idea) but most people manage to easily avoid them, even when walking through a forest.

Last old growth forest I walked through, there wasn't even branches within scratching distance of a grizzly bear standing on its hind legs... not even low enough to grab to try to climb a tree. Last "new growth" forest I walked through didn't really tangle that much because not enough sun on lower area generally means those branches die and fall off. The amazing thing about trees is they can "self amputate" if a part of the tree isn't working efficiently enough.

(See how I did that? I didn't have to call anyone an idiot, though I well could have.)

I guess that it depends on the forest type. Forest like this still has some twigs in some trees that can cause lot of damage.

Or knicks and knacks from gathering raspberries and blackberries? Frigged British Columbia's native blackberry vines are almost as brutal for it as falling into a cactus.
