We desperately need more shield options. The one wooden shield we have clearly doesn't cut it.

Requesting Bucklers: a knuckle-wielded shield (in gloves slot) that would allow the usage of a 2-handed weapon with Shields Up (ofcourse not for a full MCx250% block value, but for a mere MCx150%).

man... contrary to most famous rpg's, bucklers, or better: rotella (wich is the one depicted in your pic) was hand-held.
Since very small shields relies only on deviation of the incoming hit, having it strapped on an arm you cannot move freely (because you have to swing with that arm), is worthless, as much as trying to add the best protection in the game to the best weapon for better power-playing.

But what would the difference be, mechanically, to make it a meaningful build/playstyle option. Different shape of shield doesn't really qualify for that.

Being able to use a 2h weapon with the buckler can utilize the shield up stance? Make new shields with more stats? Maybe increased durability with a smaller defense bonus for long drawn encounters in dungeons, steel shields could be increased defense with less durability to balance. If you want accuracy there were more shields than there weapon weaponry back in the day for many different situations, need that type of variety here. Maybe also make a movement speed mechanic for something like tower shields, super tanks and durable but can't use sprint or do a flat 5-10% movement defbuff in exchange for that tankyness, and make the smaller bucklers and small shields that give agility bonus but less defense?make a spear or Halbert shield that gives bonuses when paired with a spear class weapon? Spike shields could increase a curtain opening, like yellow or red whenever you are attacked and that consumes the durability. Wooden shield that is currently in the game can be the basic balanced shield, no bonuses to either tankyness, mobility or offense.
We can go more in depth if you need more explanation for the introduction and use of new shields.

Let me stop you right there, you clearly do not understand how combat works in this game and how absolutely everything in it depends on players having the same movement speed. You change this and you break the entire system.
