So ... I just had the best idea ever.
I think it would be an awesome idea to give everyone the option to post quests and rewards. Might be a sign-post-board that works like trading-posts do. Let's say a faction has the possiblity to post various quests to which they also add some rewards:
- Quest: Bring back a bear - reward: a nugget of metal
- Quest: Bring back a moose - reward: a nugget of metal
- Quest: Bring back a log of Plane Wood - reward 1 wax
- Quest: Kill player "xxxxx" - Reward - 1 q69 B12 axe
- Challenge the border cairn at coord xx, yy - reward 1 Bronze Plate
I could foresee this also to be expanded on various labors:
Quest - Level the area between cord xx, yy to xy, yx - reward 1 Meat Grinder
Quest - Cut all the trees on the area between cord xx, yy to xy, yx - reward 1 Frying Pan
Quest - Harvest/replant all flax between cord xx, yy to xy, yx - reward 1 Metal Shovel
List is endless and depends only on the creativity and need of players and ofc development constraints
As soon as a quest is completed - the player either receives the reward instantly or visits the quest-board again to be rewarded.
I see this as a benefit both to bigger factions and hermits. As a hermit I would not mind getting some of the more trivial but time consuming tasks from bigger factions and earn some decent otherwise hard to get reward. Big faction cities could become quest hubs (like in pretty much all RPG games), attracting hermits in need of work or adventure. It might also be that it lowers the need of bots or spam of labor alts. Lastly - larpers could go wild on this to role play Thieve or Merchant Guilds or posting assassination jobs or whatever they see fit. I don't see any drawback on this feature other than the time spent to develop it.
Quest: Provide developers with an awesome idea. Reward: Get a dev cape
Thanks
