Water, tools & belts - belt inventory idea

Currently, a person could stuff 75L of water in the best belt. The fact that you can stuff 25 two-handed axes is also strange.

To make it less of a wierd thing, I suggest that belt would accept holsters instead of plain tools and items. Some of such items might be:
- A sheath for a sword
- A holder for multiple tools (like keyring) - for axe, saw etc.
- A waterskin
- A quiver that holds both arrows and a bow
Along with addition of such items, belts should become smaller, allowing different amount of holsters - i.e. from 1 to 5. To put an item to belt, you'll need a correct holster for it. Holsters might take up different amount of "slots" on the belt, so a holster for a B12 would be larger than one for a stone axe. The idea is maintain the convenience to use tools, but get rid of ridiculous situations with barrels of water attached to the belt. Also, maybe make character look cooler with a sheath!

I like the idea of reinventing belts, but I would go one step further. Make belts designed for different uses.

It makes very little sense that a warrior goes fighting with a tool belt on himself. Just like it's super weird thinking of a carpenter or miner keeping a sword (or worse) on themselves while doing their jobs.

So why not make a craftsman belt, that holds tools, and a fighter's belt, that holds weapons/shields/quiver?

More inventory tetris for the sake of boring realism with no opportunity for interesting mechanics is a terrible design foundation.

If we want to cut down on the amount of water people can carry maybe we should cut down on the relatively ridiculous amount of stamina things require currently.

Miner with a sword and shield does make sense tho. Limiting certain equipment to certain belts is just plain bad, having to run around swapping gear all the time to get anything done.
I would rather limit the amount of copies of an item you can carry, just like OP suggested.
