beekeeper's credo

Postby bitza » Fri May 01, 2020 6:04 am

in light of this topic: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=60381

"the sweet honey flows like molten gold from the combs of the hive, and the wax, as heavy as gold in its own right, fills its cells more rapidly as you slowly gain understanding with the anthophilic residents and their abode of straw", yada yada

pollinating the beekeeper's colony promises:

+20 farming
quality bonus when collecting honey
gain more larvae when harvesting
faster wax production
greatly reduced chance of bee stings

possible quests:
deliver honey/wax to questgiver
build x beehives
harvest x liters of honey
get stung x amount of times
craft an artifact for farming/cooking
study odd honeycomb/bee that stung (x2)

Collecting wax is cancer. Collecting wax shouldn't be cancer at a baseline, instead of being cancer until you complete a credo.

Yeah, just remove the stupid beestings added for no reason other than the devs being out of touch.

I like this, but how do you figure it'd handle the increased wax production? Build the hive with the credo? Applied when you're the last person to harvest? Seems like it might be a weird thing to make work.

hadn't really given that any thought tbh. maybe the credo could unlock a new bee skep build that offers more better wax production

stop suggesting credos unless you idea is based on fun or challenging quests, tbqh.
If the game needs content or some perk bad enough, it should be baseline. Thinking up rewards, and asking they be put behind reskinned quests from every other credo rly seems reductive to me.

Seems like a boring credo to do and have. Like are there any possible quests that doesn't just boil down to have a bunch of beehives ready when you start it, do another variant of deliver quests (very original, doesn't get old after the 20th credo btw) and some study quests to insta-abandon?

you're right, it is reductive. that's because there's a precedent already set for how credo quests are set up. plus i have a feeling that jorb won't be removing the beesting mechanic of his own volition altogether. this is a sort of middle ground between the status quo and the way that we would all like things to be (no beestings at all). that way, i figure it's more likely to be implemented rather than having to come up with all new mechanics for new quests.

feel free to put me on ignore if you think my posts are that bad.

Credo: Insectologist.
1. all bugs/insects you collect have a 5% bonus to quality.
2. Greatly reduced chance of getting a beesting (wild bees attack or domestic beehive harvest).
3. A chance to get an additional Wax while harvesting Wax. +20% chance on getting rare loot (bee larvae, royal ants) while raiding hives/anthills or collecting wax from beeskeps.
4. Ants and wildbees don't aggro while you raid their anthill/beehive.
5. Immune to bee stings and ant acid burns.

Credo only avaliable after Farmer.
And/or mayve Mystic - just to make it not-so-easy.

Not good. #4 mostly invalidates #2 and #5, #5 completely invalidates #2.
