Geological Logic For Coal (I hate looking for coal)

I would like to see some logic behind the map generator for rocks and minerals (especially coal).

Simply put, coal is most commonly found on earth near shale, sandstone and limestone, thus I believe the Map Generator should attempt to place coal adjacent to these rocks.

I don't mean every single node of those rock deposits come with a node of coal attached, but in the event coal is generated it is accompanied by an appropriate, realistic rock deposit near it.

Coal is important and there should be a method or logic to finding it outside of tunneling and grid mining.

Perhaps other ores should work like this too?

Yeah, I figured eventually. There is a method to at least find ore with rustroot, so it wouldnt be AS important to flesh out. Starting with some logic for coal since it's rather important would be nice.

I think its just some kind of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perlin_noise

It would be cool if jorb or loftar share some info of how they generate the map, its hard to put lakes and rivers.

I'm not saying loftar should duplicate the work, but the world gen for Dwarf Fortress is amazing.
