)Decays slow as fuck. Needs to last longer than decaying villages as they'll serve as a great memento of what was once there.
Reasons this is a good idea:
1. Aesthetic
2. We've no books for me to mass produce low quality erotica & other nonsensical things to shove into their cupboards. Thus this is the second best option.
3. Gives you more space to partake in dick waving contests.
4. 5,000 characters is a lot. Imagine all the nice things people will write on them.
5. The player population might tank harder than the 2 towers on 9/11 but the giant runestones celebrating dick inspection day shall remain long after we all leave.
And that's why we need thick runestones.
