Feedback for AFK/Tabbed Players

Postby linkfanpc » Fri Jan 15, 2021 8:58 pm

Since the game can tell if you're tabbed out in order to reduce the framerate to the background window setting, would it be possible to make it so that if you're alt tabbed out for more than, say, 10 seconds, little Zs start to pop out of your character's head?

Would be nice so that you can easily realize your villagemate is afk and you aren't typing out two paragraphs of the materials he needs all for it to be drowned out by the rest of the party.

Would also just be funny to walk by a village and see the farmer standing around in the fields dozing off.
Total misplay.

Cool idea, I don't see why not.

Something like this could be really neat.

Pretty sure this used to be a thing in haven with :afk command to do it manually. No idea why it was removed.

True nature of the playerbase would be revealed so it would be really bad PR, imagine walking around and seeing only people with z's around them.

IIRC the "zzz" in Legacy was a sign that the character was logging off. Rough equivalent currently is the "floating meditation" animation. (based on stories I've heard, you got "zzz" even when client crashed, "floating meditation" only happens when you use "Log Out" or "Switch Character" from Options menu.

I think the ZZZ in Legacy happened when they hadn't done any inputs for a while, and meant they'd be automatically logged off soon.

-1 Not entirely opposed to this being added, but make it toggleable if so. The less people know when I'm vulnerable, the better.

I trust my villagers, but we never talk using the in-game chat anyway unless we know we are online. We use discord. I remember the days when slings could shoot through palis and you could kill AFK motherfuckers. We're less vulnerable behind our walls now but I can think of some fuckery I could pull on someone who's AFK. I don't want to give examples/ideas to people.
Boofing and gumping it all damn day. Shoutout to my homeboy Moloch
