Map in Early Winter / Winter / Late Winter

When there is summer map look fantastic, but when winter is comming map became unreadable and ugly. I don't even mention map preview when snow is everywhere. It's just useless.

There is how map look in early/late winter.


I suggest to save map tiles as it would be summer all the time. With cliffs / varied ground types etc.

Please ignore winter tiles on map and minimap.

I'm pretty sure that this has been suggested many time and yes it should be changed.

Well, if snow is everywhere that might be true but for early winter / late winter you can still see terrain type on map, besides 1000 small white pixels u can see terrain pixels. My image marked as "BAD" shows that. But it's so unreadable and ugly.

Let's assume that i am a new player. I start playing in late winter and i see that scattered white pixels on map. That's not good imo. As a new player i wouldn't even know what the hell is that.
Anyway exploring map in winter is just painful. Maybe devs should show us some love instead of putting the skids under us

We were hunting stoats as a group this winter. It's kind of wack that we had to use a third part wiki to find out where they spawn, then a third party map to find out where that terrain was because it was our only option outside of randomly digging around.

Actually, that is the intention, but I noticed myself this winter that there seems to be some bug with the new minimap implementation that overrides that sometimes. Should definitely be fixed, but I haven't found the cause yet.

Doing the thing suggested in the OP would fix this as well.
