Appear Offline

Sometimes I want to farm in peace without friends asking me to go on multi-hour hunting trips or Russians asking me my age/sex/location (don't ask).

Add a menu to the kin window that allows you to set your status to Online/Idle/Do Not Disturb/Appear Offline.

Do Not Disturb shows you are online but prevents incoming chats.

Appear Offline shows your symbol as offline, however if you check the characters last online status, it still says now. So if you're looking to murder your kin and want to be sure they're online, you still can!

I know some people will want Idle to happen automatically if you're AFK. If you do that please make it togglable, I personally would rather people not know when I'm vulnerable.

Except blocking chats feature, this seems like this feature will make more problems, bugreport issues, which is worse than satisfy few sociopaths
You can always settle in places where are no people at all.

You can always settle in places where are no people at all.

I don't want to never hang out with people. But sometimes I get on the game to do chores around the village while I watching TV and I don't want people messaging me at all, or I'm piss drunk, or I'm trying to chill before bed. Other times I want to get the gang together and go troll or cachalot hunting.

The Idle suggesting was a secondary idea, I only mentioned it because it's typical feature to be displayed by "appear offline". For example, Steam has the status options: Online, Away, and Invisible. If I did not mention it, someone else would. The linked thread also asks for a visible indicator outside of the kin list, which is more of what I DON'T want. But yeah, I'll swing by that thread and give relevant gripes. Mods can choose to merge if they wish, but I think the "appear offline" discussion would be a derail.

And as for bugs and abuse, it's literally just changing the sprite to the left of the character name in the kin list. What kind of bugs and abuse do you foresee?

How so? Say you're interested in smalltalk but I don't want to for the night. With this feature I could set my status to Appear Offline, then then change it back to Online next morning. My only option in the current interface would be to just dekin you, which is... Drastic.

Say you're under siege and you really need help. All your kin's are offline. But wait! Some may be Appearing Offline! You go through your kin list and find me, offlien but it says Last Online: Now, meaning I am online! You message me:

Yo broski I know you're probably busy but I'm under attack and could use some backup right now!

And then I could be like:

"Sorry Brotunhiem but these turnips ain't gonna plant themselves"

Now AFTER I wrote all that it occurs to me your gripes might be more with the "Do Not Disturb" idea, which tbh was kind of an afterthought for me, all I really want is Appear Offline.

Even if you were to keep that status on forever the kin list would still be useful. I have lived in several places where the rulers make a point of kinning everyone they encounter and sharing HS's on discord, then KOing anyone who refuses to kin to ensure everyone in the area if friendly. The downside is you get a lot of rando's on your kin list who sometimes message you asking to RMT because it's their fucking job irl. Appear Offline alone would make this so much less annoying. I believe Do Not Disturb would be an excellent feature but will acknowledge it warrants more discussion.

Well that precisely is the issue, some people may accidentally leave it on etc. then it will be difficult to find out if they are on or not. Even in situations where they do not want to hide their status.

Some people leave their cheese in too long and get generic gouda, that's not a good reason to not add a feature.
