client/server protocol suggestion clicking action

If you have some action selected, like lift or dig, and you want to just move, not lift something up, its currently seemingly impossible?

Could it be added so that you could hold down control and then you could move normally, kind of like it works when holding some item in your hand? So the action would be skipped when ctrl clicking.

This subforum is meant for the game and default client not custom clients.
I also wonder how custom client would even do it, because clicking anywhere with lift icon doesn't seem to work. And canceling/reactivating it for each single icon would be just too tedious. The reason why I am suggesting this is precisely because I'm too lazy to do that.
