Wooden Carving Boards/cabinet images

My group, as a small lightly organized group of friends, tends to run into organizational issues. This happens especially at the start of the game, and we were discussing things that could change to make it easier to manage, and this idea came up.

What if we could make a wooden carving that showed the image of an item, and they could be placed in various ways?
Once you are more established you can use painting to get some things marked more clearly, but I think an early game option would be nice.

I think a simple way would be to require a tool in your hand (likely a stone axe?), pick up the item whose image you want to make a carving of, and right click it onto a board of wood.
The image could just be the same as is used for your inventory, perhaps with a filter applied to it to look like a carving or remove color for immersions sake, and placed onto a wooden square.
Not sure how feasible that is to implement, but if having an image from an item used directly is too much, a small collection of symbols to pick from could also work.
Meat, a fish, a cone cow or something to represent curios, etc.

It would be great to be able to stick one on a signpost, put on on the wall of the house, maybe onto a fence post?, etc.
I would also love it we could place one on top of a cabinet, making it much easier early on to find things and get organization going.
Our group tends to get a bit lost early on in the mess of cabinets, especially with anyone who hasn't played before having trouble keeping anything straight, so I imagine it happens to others as well.

Those work for some things, and I do admittedly generally forget those exist outside of when I am planting crops or something, but I was thinking more in the general direction of hanging them on things without taking up floor space.
I was mostly coming at this from a "how to better indicate organization in houses, especially in the early game" and putting those down on the floor would complicate things more than they would help.

Though with those in mind, I did just find at previous requests for basically the same idea without much traction.

Had I been thinking about the display sign existing when I wrote the first post I would have likely referenced it and worded it a little differently.
