Line of Sight is Stupid

Thoughts on the further development of Haven & Hearth? Feel free to opine!

Line of Sight is Stupid

One of the biggest frustrations in this game is being stopped dead in your tracks while trying to agro a fox between the trees/boulders/whatever. Is this really necessary?

In legacy you could agro anyone from anywhere within render which I do think was dumb, but come on, this is just ridiculous. Could you at least make it so that failed agro attempts due to line of sight doesn't stop your character from moving? You lose tons of ground for what imo is no good reason

wasnt this added to prevent griefing from the taming process?

but yes i agree, at the very minimum a character should TRY to path closer to the mob so that they can aggro
the proliferation of automation is the rot of this game, with the next worst thing being the filth that plays it (you, probably.)

W7 - Hermit
W8 - Co-LS of R'lyeh, Owner of the Hermitarium Knowledge Group
W9 - LS of Niflheim
W11 - Hermitage (named Niflheim)
W12 - Hermit -> some rando ass village i forgot the name of that i joined
W10,13-15 - N/A

Maybe griefing when you had to tame outside your base.

I feel like removing this is likely to cause unforseen exploits though...

How? The only issue we had before line of sight was added (in this game) was agroing taming animals over walls to grief, and in that case line of sight could only apply to palisades/stick fences/brick walls etc rather than every object in the woods

That would fix the bulk of the issue, yes

Some difficulty in aggroing is likely healthy for PvP.

but think of the poor sprucecap killers who now have to take their other hand off from pants!

Aggroing bats from trees is impossible though which is not nice.

I agree, if you manage to get de aggroed while getting chased you have the ability to hide behind a tree and teleport if you arent red handed.
