Wooden objects should float

Postby Agrik » Wed Apr 14, 2021 2:12 am

I mean actual pieces of wood* and other wooden* objects. As well as other buoyant things. Such items could treat water tiles the same way as ground tiles, just lying there when dropped and disappearing only after some time.

If possible, slowly drifting with wind/water currents. Wind and water currents nodes would be nice in general, possibly based on circular, inward and outward motion relative to such nodes.

The idea came when I read a topic about logging out with lifted object, and tried to imagine

how a person drops a wooden log into shallow water and... the log disappears as if it has sunk?

In shallow water even non-floating objects could be not instantly disappearing... well, maybe they shouldn't be as visible and as accessible as on the ground, because the water is unlikely to be clean, but they perhaps can be dug back with a shovel from the same or one of nearby water tiles.

* I know that some kinds of wood are not buoyant. At first it can be ignored, so all in-game wood would float, and such exceptions can be made non-floating later.
