Enables or disables guest mode for the Gateway.

My dream is that the Gate can be switched between normal and guest modes. raise and lower red flags. This would interestingly allow for better customization of the palisade.

the reason this is not a thing is because of insiders.

The reason to not allow claim owners is because of trade towns.
The reason to not allow lawspeakers of towns is because people placing towns over noobies.

I'm with Maze on this one.

It seems like a nice idea, but it comes with a lot of possible security issues and possible exploits.

just require lawspeaker + the master key

alternatively, we can just change the entire gate permission system to something more accepting? the current system only serves to harm newbies (which can be fine) and teach somewhat redundant lessons.

If you get killed outside... well due to visitor gates existing, it's not like anyone can do anything with your slave key anyway, even if a gate leads inside. The downside of visitor gates not allowing people to pass through is kind of made pointless by using an airlock+locked house system (outer gate is non-visitor, you run into a house and break combat as it'll take too much time to pick even for newbs usually, you hearth after combat breaks, done.)

So if everyone utilizes these loopholes in gate/house design, why bother having them at all? The only people who wont use them are people who aren't aware or poorly planned their homes. Might as well just change the system to be entirely permissions based and get rid of the jank

@Archiplex Visitor gates are made to allow both trade towns and stop insiders.

Inside was a major problem for every world until visitor gates.

I'm talking about a village where there are 20-40 gates and more than 9 minimaps

40 gates for e.g. trading access is an overkill already if you need to adjust it every time.

Keep things simple, or you'll have to personally escort them around a labyrinth, raising and lowering flags while in combat.

One entry point into "visitor status" for outsiders is enough, unless the goal is to trap them (or yourself) after they come in.

If this would be ever a thing, it might be better if the only the owner of the village/claim could change between the two.
Or would be master key dependent.
