Miner credo Well Mined

Postby piffboy6 » Tue Apr 20, 2021 12:33 am

After the adding the excavating of boulders while mining, ive been getting quite a bit of bolders while mining ore. It kinda bugs me that the ore boulders dont have the Well mined tag if the person who excavated or chipped them has the miner credo. I would like to suggest that ore boulders can have the well mined tag applied to them or that ore chipped from them can have the tag.

i really feel like this is a bug more so than deliberate mechanics, because i dont feel like the boulders even inherit your mining skills (deep artifice etc)

It's extremely strange that boulders will be mined out at quality, but lack any changes from credos, skills, and similar. They almost aren't even worth bothering with right now (due to lower ore output ratio from not factoring skills), and almost certainly wont be worth bothering with later in the world.

Also slightly strange that anyone, with or without skills, can chip the boulder afterwards and not softcap the quality at all due to chipping not having skills tied to it, despite the boulder being high quality itself due to the miner.

Agreeing with this, boulders are a total pain in the ass, the whole select an area to mine feature is almost useless as you're constantly stopped dead by a boulder appearing in your path, the only positive part of them was that useful ore boulders could pop, but their usefulness is now hampered by the fact that ore obtained from them doesn't factor in credo perks...
I already have to sort coal into quality range stockpiles, now I'll have to filter ore to split well mined and normal ore for 9 coal/12 coal smelter loads or just chip & drop.
It's a awful lot of mundane pissing about.

i literally mine out boulders and then just set them aside even if they're shit like silver ore because i genuinely dont want to mix 12/9 coal ore

Does ore from boulders not get affected by your skills? Like deep artifice.

Boulders are great. Do boters hate them? Don't know. But credos should include them.

Honestly, I imagine anyone botting mining couldn't care less about them, I know I could quite easily incorporate a quick if (boulder) {chip_boulder} else {carry_on_botting_bro} routine to a bot. They're super inconvenient to a player though, other than being able to rocket through Quarryman credo this world of course. I don't really see them having any sort of anti-botting benefit at all so I doubt that was the design idea behind them.
