we have Wolfs, we have Tamming, we need Dogs to protect propiety and help on hunting fast mobs

Might be a cool idea/mechanic if they ever fixed hunting and animal AI in the first place. right now, there is no real reason for dogs. and balancing them for PvP would probably be a nightmare and disliked by the community.
Animal behavior could certainly improve. Beatings will continue until it does. - jorb, January 2018.

I believe jorb (maybe even loftar?) have been positive about the idea, but no ETA on when it might get added.
