Concept: Lodestones and Magnets

note: for people coming from Minecraft, that's not the lodestones I'm talking about. I'm talking about naturally magnetized pieces of magnetite of unknown origin.

So, here's the general idea:

When you excavate a black ore boulder, there's a chance for it to be a lodestone. Lodestones can be used alongside a finery forge to make more magnets out of cast iron and steel, or (less efficiently) through crafting. Irl process HERE

this could be used, for instance, to extract low quantities of iron from acre clay or maybe putting on boats and using on beaches and underwater to obtain previously-dropped ferromagnetic treasure.
