Why can Head of Lettuce be eaten?

Postby VDZ » Tue Apr 27, 2021 6:12 pm

So today I wanted to split a Head of Lettuce to get Lettuce Leaves for crafting food. After right-clicking it, I pressed '1' to Split - but instead, the existence of the Eat option moved Split to '2', and I instantly ate the Head of Lettuce without any way to cancel or undo. Head of Lettuce costs a whopping 6% of Hunger and provides, at q10, 2 FEPs total (1 CON +1 and 1 PSY +1, not even interesting FEPs). It feels really bad to lose 6% Hunger to something as terrible as this. (You also lose the seeds, in case you needed those.) Head of Lettuce is probably the single worst food in the game (the non-FEP foods give at least the variety bonus, which makes them far better considering their low hunger values) and I cannot imagine why anyone would ever want to eat it, even at obscene quality levels. So why is this even an option, given it can only function as a 'gotcha' for a misinput?

Please either remove the Eat option from Head of Lettuce or buff it drastically so there is at least some imaginable situation where you would actually want to eat it.
