Some kind of build-able Realm "Hub"

Postby spavaloo » Thu Apr 29, 2021 12:35 am

In the interest of encouraging socializing and trade, there should be some kind of Realm-built structure (only one per Realm) that can be ported to from any Realm-controlled Thingwall. I think by default it should apply something along the lines of the visitor debuff in a certain radius, to enforce a "safe zone" for trade and assorted revelry.
Maybe there would be a distinction between "citizens" of the Realm (someone whose hearth fire has been within the boundaries for a certain amount of time) and those who are not, with different debuff restrictions accordingly.

Can't you just make a trade village near a thingwall for exactly this purpose?

I think he is getting at making trade safe again, a thingwall next to a trade hub is an excellent place to get ganked - you could just spy on it from another thingwall and wait for unsuspecting target to port in with his bag of gold bars and pearls.

It would be nicer if charter stones came back even if they could only be used for travel once a fortnight or something.

In order to do that, they'd have to be visible as a peering eyeball, no different than using roads. Also, there's always the option to just port 1 thingwall away and boat over if it's a concern.

Trade markets of previous worlds have succeeded well enough that it clearly works.

I don't think Thingwall ganking will become a significant problem, but in previous worlds markets had the Charter Stone on the inside, right?

After they implemented Sublime Porticos basically anyone with enough WIL to reach a market had access to secure trading. Now we only have thingwalls. I'm not sure if this is objectively bad or a good thing for the game, just stating it.
