Please improve cliff movement

Postby VDZ » Mon May 03, 2021 2:56 am

There was a recent thread about this, but it was in Bugs so I decided to make a new thread here rather than bump that one.

Movement becomes very wonky the moment you get anywhere near a cliff. There's many reports of people getting completely stuck, but what bothers me most is that it always completely stops your movement until you click perpendicular to the cliff (often also perpendicular to where you're heading so it's really annoying). This leads to situations like this:

It would be really nice if something could be done about this.

How you would imagine it works in ideal case?

yeah, any improvement is good.

Ones that aren't visually aligned with the grid at right angles are the worst. Have to figure out the proper angle--if you can even climb that cliff. The absolutely only thing worse than this is when water is involved and drownings occur.

Don't forget that if you jump/drop onto another hitbox like a tree, stump, or rock, you get stuck, and if there was a bear/boar nearby or chasing you you just have to say your prayers.
Total misplay.

Cliff sticking is actually deadly for beginners/clumbsy players.

+1, i can't recall how many trees i had to cut down just to unstuck myself. Mountains are dreadful to navigate too.
