Drying thyme, dill, kvann and such.

Black pepper is very convenient as a spice, since you only use 0.01kg of it per dish, and can make 50 meals with just one handful occupying one inventory slot. Not to mention it can be stored in buckets or barrels. Other spice- not so handy, since they are stored in cupboards and it takes 1 item/meal, making inventory management extra tedious. But what if we could dry other herbs on the herbalist table (mindblowing, ikr), and then grind them into fine dust, so each individual item would end up giving 0.01 of usable spice (ofc you should be able to use fresh ones if you like, drying isn't mandatory) that would utilize bulk goods mechanics? Its feels more natural to me rather than stuffing cupboards with fresh dill and sage. It would also make spices somewhat viable trade good, since it would allow transporting huge amounts of it in barrels.

And also add garlic as spice/ingridient. I want my garlic bread in game.

That's why pepper gives you bum burn and other stuff doesn't. If other spices became as good as convenient as pepper there would have to be something to balance them the same way.

EDIT

I guess that would be fine. And yes to garlic.

EDIT2

Wait, you need 5 dried pepper drupes to make 0.01kg of black pepper? I never realized it took that much.

idk about anyone else but i figure the reason they give bum burn is their ridiculous fep boosting capabilities, not so much the convenience to cook with then lol

Huh, I never noticed pepper was that great. I guess I'll farm a ton more of it once I have the rest of the walls up.
