Hunters credo / Bow hunting fix

Okay, so obviously bow-using is trapped in a hell-paradigm of like. Buff it too much and it becomes pvp meta, nerf it and it becomes useless, or atleast, a highly impractical and somewhat functional alternative to hunting with just a sword and a horse. The main issue being that most of the animals you really care about yeeting are the big bois with 35 -> 65-ish armour and, bows dont even get armour pen against animals. Okay, cool whatever. Why not just make the hunters credo damage buff bigger BUT only apply to animals? No PVP balance issues, and I get to LARP as a ranger. Everybody (I care about) wins!

Or buff bows a bunch.

Then add a ranged damage debuff when wearing armour e.g. 1 deflection - 1 less damage.

also, buff the arrows creation speed 10 at a damn time.

This i am rather against because it already is super cheap to make arrows and with metal arrows and high q ones it would be way to easy to accumulate massive stores of god-tier arrows for very little material... or are you just suggesting that we increase the materials needed 10 times and make them produce 10 times for more efficient production, because i don't know anyone who crafts so many arrows that would be necessary.

As for the topic, I agree that damage buffs to animals only would definately be ideal, BUT not too much of a damage buff because i don't want freaking w8 nonsense where people with 10 MM were hunting freaking bears. We need to keep Ranged weapon DPS (even if it's animal only) low enough that large game can't be hunted right at the start of the game.

Animal flat armor was added to stop archery being used to cheese endgame animals literal day 1.

Give strider(?) an ability that ranged damage ignores animal armor?

That doesn't really fix the issue, because people will grind for shoot and then it will allow for early game bear hunting or worse.... Locking the damage buff behind another credo is probably the best answer as much as i despise credos.

To prevent early world cheesing, could there maybe just be an animal armor penetration calculation? Something like Per * Lore * MM?

Like if the average of those stats is 40 you can ignore 30 armor, if 90 you can ignore like 60 armor (I'm just making up numbers to get a point across).

Some combo of stats, essentially so that higher tier characters are able to scale in their effectiveness against animals using bows?

This isn't actually a terrible idea, maybe what you could do is unlock it with a skill called Animal Lore, or something where the flavor text tells you, you are studying the weakpoints of an animal and then you scale past their armor with MM X Lore.

Maybe unlock a unique archery ability behind it too, called aimed shot or something which would do decreased damage and take longer to aim but have a chance of not damaging the hide, so you can get higher quality hide.

That would make Archery less boring too and add some depth to it, while negating the fact it lowers hide quality just a little bit making it more viable in the mid game.

Bruh, hides don't get damaged by arrows anymore, it's just survi capped like punching them
