Destroying village banners

Why can't you bash an enemy's village banner by hand?
It's literally a large piece of cloth, an axe should be enough to take it down if it's not locked behind a palisade or something...

it's an authority object. It gets special protection. It's also a computer game, not real life. Sometimes you just give this to some things because they're more valuable than other things.

Them being valuable is exactly the reason why you should have to keep them safe behind a palisade or something.
At least for like the first 24h or something it should be easy to bash, but it's not.

Can't place a wall to defend the banner without the claim covering the wall in the first place. Any village with slightly aggressive neighbours would literally never be able to expand.

You want them to require siege engines to break the walls, but they require siege engines to bash currently. So what you really want is players are forced to build ugly walls around every banner.

You can place a wall outside claim. You would simply have to defend it while it gets to full hp, like you do for personal claims.

Right now this forces even lonely hermits to make a village, because anyone can cover their place by simply building a super cheap banner that u can't destroy without a siege.

You could wall off the new area and make the banner at the same time, and just defend it while the palisades dries up. Like you would for your village idol or personal claim.

Nonsense. As long as your area is pclaimed, the vclaim does not remove your access. And to revoke the pclaim, it needs to be vclaimed for a very long time (unless the pclaim was also recent).

Sure, let me free up 24+ consecutive hours in my schedule so I can add a 61x61 area to my village. No problem. (The idol is built within an already-dried palisade.)
