[Credo] Strider

Postby Valgar » Wed May 19, 2021 2:28 pm

Hello, is that logic the Strider credo bonuses are just useless ?
This credo is a 5th grade credo, and not supposed to be less usefull than the Hunter's one.

Actual bonuses :

1/ +50% Swimming --> Why not
2/ Chance of getting additional hides when flaying animals --> Why not, but
3/ Reduced satiation from Game --> is it the Cook's credo ?
4/ Not interrupted by combat when raiding insect nests --> Why ? At this stage you can just kill all the ants before raiding (or use the new Bough smoking for bees)
5/ +15% damage with ranged weapons. --> Cool, if only Ranged combat was a thing.

Why not :

3/ Possibility to track the nearest animal (similar to Rustroot extract)
4/ +20% damage dealt on fleeing animals (melee/ranged)
5/ +10% animal quality (like it was before the nerf)

In the same way, the Cook credo should be boosted, allowing him to get some special dishes.

Quality bonus was removed intentionally, I doubt they will revert this change.
But I thought the same today, strider credo is useless. I won't be using ranged combat at all and extra hides is only positive thing I'd want but not enough to do it really. It needs a buff.

Agreed, I won't be pursuing strider this world even though I'm the hunter because none of the bonuses are worth it.

Because that would make Strider mandatory for one person in every village. 10% bonus to animal quality is pretty significant.

That's the problem with credo balancing in general. Make the buffs too strong and it becomes mandatory, and nobody likes grinding credos. Make it too weak and it becomes useless. The more useful it is, the closer to mandatory it becomes.

The reduced satiations from game is probably the best part in my opinion. This is for game you eat; not for what you cook and it includes sausages which remain one of the better ways to gain stats for quite some time.

It is weak though, no doubt about that.

I'd like to have the ability to check animal quality from afar and track animals personally.

Some great pve credo buffs that arent mandatory:
-percent less armor wear when hit by animal
-gain +X combat stats(MC/UA/Marks) only when fighting against animals(i mean when calculating opening done to animal or when getting hit by animal then skill value used for calculation of weight is being incremented by flat or percentage value)
-better chance for butchering unusual stuff
-ability to not use arrow when shooting vs animal(arrow respawns in inventory) (may sound a bit strange, but would buff pve ranged combat)
They offer significant buff so I'd like for example to upgrade gear less often with first bonus.

well, i haven´t done strider this world, but quality boni are stupid, basically makes it soo that anyone touching an animal destroys it unless he has the credo,
and swimming fits thematically and is niche enough too actually give you an huge bonus (50% us actually an immense increase) but nobody really wants that buff either,

range combat might be bad, but for pve purposes , it is actually quite good, most smaller animals are one or 2 shots for oure hunter, and killing an bear or moose with sub par stats alone is 100% done quicker and saver with an bow currently anyway, i don´t know how far the quality race has progressed in your hometown, but with an rangers bow, a few hundred damage per arrow should stick on an bear, and that without any openings or getting in harms way yourself.
and extra furs are an nice bonus imo.

the satiations part might be one of the stronger buffs there is honestly, we eat an ton off game at this stage, and anything turning the hunger/energy/stats scale more in your favour that isnt fought over by 800+stats chars is practiacally invaluable, honestly, nonhunters should proppably do strider and cock if they have the time just for that.

i did strider in the first 2 weeks

1. nest raiding is useless. move it to base hunter and give strider something better.
2.extra satiation is amazing
3.extra damage on archery sucks but that'll remain to suck until archery is fixed, which seems like it ownt happen until combat is fixed
4. swimming is alright i guess
5. extra hide is great overall

Speaking about mandatory credo, let's see the Tailor one. I think every hermit HAVE to go for tailor on their char or an alt to not being screwed in qualities.

I agree that FEP bonus ffrom game is not so bad, it's just that type of boost have nothing to do in a credo like this, it's not a Sausage eating contest credo and it's clear the devs put this bonus here to fill the gap.

I mean giving the Cook a bonus FEP to the food he is cooking is logical, but giving the farmer a bonus to every vegetable he is eating is dumb.

Unless the perks have changed from what's on the wiki, everything on there can be replicated with additional effort and resources. (Unlike something like a 10% animal quality bonus which can push animal quality beyond usual limits and you cannot accomplish such qualities without it.)

(For reference, the wiki claims the Tailor perks are currently:
  • Sewing +15
  • Chance to fail gildings reduced by 5%.
  • Double the chance to reslot gildings when recycling artifacts.
  • Sewing +25
  • The first gilding of a new artifact is always successful.
)
