Yeah, it should be slightly scaled by the local water quality, giving more in low q environments.

On the other hand, the primary way of increasing water quality is supposed to finding a better source. If you can just trivially Dig Deeper any well to a decent quality, water nodes would be useless.

Fair point, but a balance could probably be struck to make digging deeper on semi okay water spots not the dumbest thing if you just want somewhat better water for normal garden pots or something.
