Problem: noobs can't get half of the foods and items in the game because they can't even look at big game without eating shit and dying. noobs need baller stats to even consider hunting, while both weak AND strong characters resort to using exploits to hunt animals anyway.
Proposed differences between hunting and fighting:
Hunting:
Always dangerous, never lethal.
Involves aiming and firing ranged weapons, chasing down wounded prey, tracking blood trails. Humans are persistence hunters!
Rewards: Meat, hide, bone, and a lessened amount of special loot (tusks, antlers, etc)
Requires: Ranged weapon, any MM level, any stealth level. It gets easier and takes less time with a higher skills, but it isn't completely locked out to low-skill noobs, but it also isn't laughably easy for titans with 200+ skills.
Geared towards: Anyone who wants materials and doesn't want to die. Noobs who just want to play the game.
Fighting:
Always dangerous, sometimes lethal.
Involves running up to an animal and besting it in skilled combat!
Rewards: Everything! Full meat, full bones, full hides, full special, AND maybe some extra "trophy" items, such as hearts and heads. Includes decorations, curios, ingredients, alchemy reagents, and more!
Requires: Same stats and gear as is currently required
Geared towards: Seasoned fighters, willing to lose gear and lives in exchange for guts, glory, and phat l00tz
