Change Lumberjack Credo to Carpenter (+Ideas)

The Lumberjack credo kind of sucks and is typically only sought after to get to Blacksmith and Strider. I was thinking that instead of rewarding just stats and wood yield that instead it could reward new recipes. For instance, imagine if instead of increased cutting speed, you got a recipe for an improved cabinet that offered 10x10 space. Or maybe a recipe for a storage item that is stationary/can't be lifted but has greater space than anything else in the game. Maybe put in a recipe for a log holder that will act as a stockpile for tree logs. You can keep the increased yield of wood cuttings but maybe combine it with the cut speed reward to make space.

All in all, I feel Lumberjack has always been one of the most lackluster of credos so why not improve it with something that everyone wants. Increased storage containers. (Or really, just give us better storage containers. Clutter creep is a real interest killer eventually.)

I feel like carpenter credo could be its own credo just behind lumberjack to be honest.

I don't think there's enough tree related perks you can really want to make it worth having two credos.

Maybe if we move to the "infinite" credo system at some point where credos aren't discrete but more of a progression type thing (perks at 5, 20, 50 quests done etc)

tbh lumberjack is pretty good imo, it's like the one speedbuff that I actually appreciate and the more wood is actually top tier credo bonus

that being said, I could totally picture a carpenter credo post-lumberjack that includes bigger storage stuff

I would also like to see new carpentry tools too, maybe a logging saw that cuts logs in to slices rather than boards for various new rustic furniture, maybe a curio or symbel or two? Also the ability to pave with such wood slices would be amazing.

Also could be cool to gain the ability to identify fatwood or spalted wood, like every tree cut has a tiny % chance to be either, and both can be used for new decorative wood textures and fatwood can be used as long lasting fuel or making resin.

Bigger cupboards shouldn't be locked behind a credo, it's just something so generic and useful that every group will have to have one. And mandatory credos very bad.

I would argue that bigger cupboards is pretty strictly QoL and definitely not mandatory. Anybody can make more regular cupboards, more houses etc.

Having a bigger container with cupboard rules (decays quickly outside, can't be put in inventories full, etc.) locked behind a credo is less of a QoL bonus than speed bonuses, I would rank it way more leaning towards aesthetic

could even make it unmovable or take up like 1.2 tiles or something

it is qol. but i´s just too good to pass up , if you either need to build and funish another greathall, or have an carpenter make the cupboards , your labouralt just makes carpenter. especially if you build another greathall, as the total amount of space you get from the cupoards increases even more.

you are building gimped cupboards otherwise. thats equivalent to every settlement not having an carpenter capping all there cupboards and thus buildings.

btw. carpenter is immensely usefull as it is, without it you shouldn´t dare to touch your highest q log. and the fact that an village with exclusively lumberjacks cutting there wood is actually proffiting immensely from that, i mean, we could double up on oure treefarming area. and we would need to if not for lumberjack, wich effectively just gives out free high q wood for everyone , thats great,
