Fix inconsequential between in game time and real time

Postby noindyfikator » Sat Jun 26, 2021 3:33 pm

Using star gaze shows time as "game time"
Meteorite cooling time shows time as "game time"
Inspecting a thingwall shows challenging window as "real time"
Study windows shows time as "game time" (standard client)
Battering Ram and Wrecking ball timers as well

There should be only one type of time. Mixing real time with game time is so misleading.
I think there are more misleading time based things but can't remind now.

I know the confusion between game-time and real-time sucks quite a bit, and that the fact that some things are given in game-time and others in real-time sucks even worse, but I'm having trouble formulating a regime that in indisputably better.

It should really just show real time. 1 real day is 3.29 in game days (iirc) which is just retarded anyways. Who wants to convert that everytime they see a timer?

Real reason is probably that they just have all values hardcoded in various different ways in the server, resources and other places, so doing the shift into one of them would be too much effort.

At some point in game/software development you have to stop adding new features and make base version WITHOUT bugs. You can't add features over and over again because number of bugs and things like this (time) will be only growing. At some point adding new features will be impossible (without breaking other parts of the game) and fixing existing bugs will take a lot of time. It's better to spend time now than later.

yeah I think everything should be standardized to real time as well
having two different timers this adds a whole bunch of confusion

most people using custom clients though usually have toggles to set everything to real time anyway but I think it should be the default for the default client to

the game used to be fully 2D now it's partially 3D I think 3.0 when they get around to that point fix 90% of the game issues
