We really need an in-game "vote for the end of the world" mechanism. I suggest.
Each character has a number of "votes" based on how many days he lives, how many characteristics he has and how much experience.
Each login to the game gives him "votes" for a week for the preservation of the world.
And add sacrificial places around the world (or make it possible to build such a place, or magic). If a character brings himself to the sacrifice, then all his "votes" go to the destruction of the world forever.
And make the world wither counter displayed in the game, or on the site, or by using magic - the votes of life against the votes of death. It does not commit to anything, it just shows the attitude of the players to the current world. Technically, in the future, mechanics can be tied to it with the chance of a troll appearing on the surface, bears in berserk mode, the speed of decaying buildings, or something else.
This can be used by players to plan whether it is worth starting active construction in this world now (if it dries up life) or wait until the restart, in order to avoid a big disappointment when what you just built will be quickly destroyed along with the world.
And developers will be able to rely on real sacrifices of really good characters, and not on screamers in the chat or on the forum. Any such screamers can be sent to see the counter.
