Study desk requirements

Postby noindyfikator » Mon Dec 20, 2021 9:09 am

Study desk requires 4 bone glues - 40 bones. It's a must have structure. Collecting 40 bones in early days is pain in the ass. It was tough even before you make our life tougher - added "chicken run" patch. After this patch it's even more pain in the ass.

Please consider change there.

First option: I think 2 bone glues are more than enough. Boards and block of wood are not a problem.
Second option: Change bone glue to another material, more accessible in early days.

I think it's ok that it's costly to make. It's one of those big QOL improvements that is worth the extra effort. Isn't it fun to do something worthwhile, if a little grindy?

Chasing chickens is funny for the first 5 times, but not for next 35 times

It can still be costly to make, just choose different materials which require work but not that much tedium in early days.

Idk, we can add branches, stone, bark, clay etc. but not 4 bone glues..

Once you got a sling you got bones, easy enough.

Raiding people for their bones/desks is the most fun thing to do on day 1.

This is assuming you play in a group, but you can have multiple people gang banging bats, with the one being attacked spamming restorations. Since Study Desk quality does not matter, you pretty much only need 10 UA 1 survival. You also get anyQ hide and better than nothing bait. Meat can be simply roasted and fed to slave alts.

Good point, perhaps it should cost wood polish as well?

Yes, this is why it's "expensive."

I think the most criminal thing about study desks is how easy it is to miss as a new player that they are 100% mandatory for meaningful character development. Too many newbies delay building them for days and it hurts them needlessly.

Would like a quest popup that noses you into making one earlier than noobs would "get around to it".
